Consideration of the Spin-Orbit Interaction Influence on the Energy Spectrum of Ideal Crystals and Disodered Solids in the Tight-Binding Method
(Review)

‘Vasyl Stefanyk’ Precarpatian National University, Chair of Physics and Chemistry of Solid,
201 Galytska Str., Ivano-Frankivsk, UA-76008, Ukraine

In the unified treatment based on two-points temperature Green function approach, the methods of taking into account the spin-orbital interaction influence on the energy spectrum of the ideal crystal and disordered solids in the tight-binding model has been considered. For the case of ideal crystal expressions for the matrix elements of the spin-orbit interaction operator matrix has been obtained using the s-type atomic wave function basis (s-model) and s-type and p-type atomic wave functions basis (sp3-model). For the case of disordered solid with the chaos of displacements equation for the spectrum has been obtained using the s-type wave functions basis in the quadratic approach of displacements with respect to the ideal crystal nodes. Solution of this equation has been found for the special cases of the linear chain of atoms and simple cubic lattice.

Band-Structure Mechanism in Wave Scattering Processes in Non-Equilibrium Semiconductor Plasma

Institute of Physics of NAS of Ukraine
46, Prospect Nauky, UA-03028, Kiev-28, Ukraine, E-mail:schender@iop.kiev.ua

An effect is investigated of the energy band non-parabolicity on the scattering and transformation processes of electromagnetic waves on fluctuations in the non-equilibrium semiconductor plasma. It is shown that the deviation of the carrier energy dispersion law from the isotropic parabolic one in a high electric field to a new mechanism of the light scattering which does not occur in the equilibrium plasma. The cross section of the electromagnetic waves scattering and transformation on fluctuations in the non- equilibrium semiconductor plasma essentially depends on the energy band shape and magnitude and orientation of the external electric field

Amorphous hydrogenated carbon (a-C:H) films were deposited from an acetylene/hydrogen mixture using a direct ion beam deposition method. The films were characterized by Raman spectroscopy (RS), Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS), ellipsometry, and microhardness measurements. The concentration of hydrogen increases with increasing hydrogen content in the deposition gas mixture. The hardness and the features of Raman spectra are dependent on hydrogen content and show a maximum of diamond-like fraction for a hydrogen to acetylene ratio of 1:1. Also, the strongest adhesion is observed for this gas mixture. Correlations are observed between the features of the Raman spectra and the hardness of the carbon films: the G and D bands shift to lower wave-number, the ID/IG ratio decreases, and the G band width at half maximum increases with increasing of film hardness.
Key words: amorphous hydrogenated carbon films, Raman spectroscopy, Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy, ellipsometry, microhardness.

The Development of Spatially Distributed Selectivity Under Conditions of Stationary Nonequilibrium Condensation of Cu and Al

Sumy State University, Physical Technical Faculty
2, Rimskogo-Korsakova Str., Sumy 40007, Ukraine, E-mail:kpe@sumdu.edu.ua

The spatially distributed selectivity of the formation of Cu and Al layers at stationary nonequilibrium condensation was theoretically predicted and experimentally carried out. It was shown that the architecture of the layers is determined by position of critical energy with respect to effective binding energies of condensing atoms on the monostairs of different crystallographic planes of growing crystals. The rate of stationary nonequilibrium condensation can be significantly increased by affecting the growth surface by stream of particles that have about the same energies.

The structure and morphology features of ZnO thin films, doped by various Ga content (1, 3, 5, 10%) deposited by PEMOCVD on monocrystalline and amorphous substrates were investigated. The possibility of transparent conductive films with perfect morphological characteristics obtaining on cheap glass substrates was reported. The effect of preferred orientation change from (002) to (101) for monocrystalline substrate and improvement of the structural quality for films on amorphous substrate with Ga content increasing was revealed. The general feature for Ga as dopant to decrease the roughness of deposited ZnO films was reported. The minimal roughness was 2.3 nm at 10% of Ga dopant for ZnO films deposited on monocrystalline substrate and 1.8 nm at 5% of Ga for films on amorphous substrate. Such properties of Ga as dopant are useful for application of Ga doped ZnO films as transparent conductive layers, transparent electrodes for solar cells and optoelectronic devices.

Computer Simulation of Ion Clasters and Them Defects

‘Vasyl Stefanyk’ Precarpatian National University, Chair of Physics and Chemistry of Solid,
201 Galytska Str., Ivano-Frankivsk, UA-76008, Ukraine, E-mail:freik@pu.if.ua

In this paper, we describe the application of the static method to the study of the formation and stability of little ion clusters. The results show the existence of stable clasters having one ion with the charge opposite to charges of all another ions. This one ion is central in the claster. It is shown that the value of the central ion charge influences on the coordinate polyhedron created by another ions. The stability of this configurations is studied on the type and value of the pushed part of the central potential of the ions interection.
The influence of the central interatomic potential on formation of the stable structure: NaCl and BaF2 has been investigated. The type of structures produced depends on the charge of the central ion and initial concentration of ions.

Addition of EuF3 promotes extra fluoridation of the residues of oxide phases in MgF2 and HfF4, which enables a sufficient improvement of the optical and operational properties of thin - film coatings. Some coatings reveal a noticeable content of amorphous component.

On the basis of conventional and the latest knowledge of the nature of native defects in the material, we carried out modelling of the point defects ensemble in CdTe undoped single-crystals. Two extreme cases were calculated: full equilibrium and quenching. One defined the point defects and free carrier concentration function of technological parameters of growing and after-grow annealing in Cd vapour and observation temperature. The achieved results have been compared with experimental data. This made it possible to make conclusions concerning validity of the studied models and offer additional experiments to make final choice between them.

The Potential Barrier Formation between Two Close Separated Metals with the Adsorbed Submonolayers Coatings

Institute of Surface Chemistry NAS of Ukraine,
Generala Naumova Street 17, Kiev 03164, E-mail:vai@rpd.univ.kiev.ua

In this article in the framework of nonlocal electrostatics the charged ΔV(x) and the structured ΔVst(r) component of the full potential in the vacuum gap between two close spaced metals is calculated theoretically. The structured potential ΔVst(r) is determined by the microscopic (atomic) structures of the metal surfaces with the submonolayers of the adsorbed coatings. It was shown that for the small vacuum intervals L ~ 0,3-2 íì the accounting of the structure component ΔVst(r) of the full potential determines the lateral change of the potential barrier height in the all vacuum interval.

Temperature-Frequency Descriptions of Dielectric Permeability of -Phase of the Bi2O3 Films

Dnipropetrovsk national university, Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine

The dielectric properties of -Bi2O3 films are investigated in the frequency range 5 Hz-500 kHz in a temperature interval 300-473 K. The dielectric spectra ` , "  show three types of a dispersion. At high-frequency range the films behave as a dielectrics with low losses. Then it follows the frequency range, where the films show high enough dc-conductivity. At low frequencies and high temperatures the dispersion due to charge volum polarization is observed. Obtained results are discussed in frames of presence in -Bi2O3 films electronic as well as ionic (oxygen) components of conductivity.
