Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (Review)

Precarpathion University named after V.Stefanyk, 57 Shevchenko Str., Ivano-Frankivsk, 76000, Ukraine

A short overview of the basic working principles and materials for dye-sensitized TiO2 solar cells is presented. Photoelectochemical systems on the base of nanocrystal wide bandgap oxide semiconductors sensitized by different types of dyes have the great potential to become an economically and commercially avaible for conversion and using of solar energy. Advantages of the photoelectochemical cells over conventional solar cells are following: 1) they don’t need ultra-pure substances; 2) they consist of low-cost materials and they are produced by processes that have little environmental impact; 3) they achieve reasonable efficiencies which are expected to improve by systematic research. There is a flexibility in the choice of material for each component, allowing the properties to be adjusted and optimised for practical applications.

The Investigation of Thermal and Chemical Transformations of Nanoporous Carbon Material During Synthesis and Modification

Precarpathion national University named after V.Stefanyk, 57 Shevchenko St., Ivano-Frankivsk, 76000, Ukraine

There was investigated chemical reactions and physical transformations by methods of differential-termal (DTA) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TG), flowing under influence of heat in carbonated (coal of apricot, plum, coco, cherry kernels, flaxseed wastes and pfenol formaldehyde resins) materials. In particular, with the help of TG one can see thermal change of investigated specimens mass. There was shown that for non- carbonated materials the loss of mass in the result of their heating in temperature interval 20-900 0C with the speed of 10 0C per minute amounts to 85-90%, while for carbonated – 40-45% from total weight. Absorption of heat in temperature interval of 70-180 0C is connected with separation of foxed water forms, and extraction of heat in temperature interval of 170-770 0C – with burning out of carbon material.

Transform of Structure in Double Semiconductors in Field Action Laser Irradiation

Precarpathion National University named after V. Stefanyk, 57, Shevchenko Str., Ivano-Frankivsk, 76000, Ukraine

In this article impulse laser radiation influence onstructure perfection of linary semiconductors (PbTe, CdSb, CdTe) was investigated. There was shown, that the structure transformations jump at the appropriate values of pulse energy density, and the number of different transformations depends on the properties of semiconductor. In partial, bitter dislocation density increase be 50-100 times appears at the radiation energy density of 3 J/sm2, regular grid at 7 J/sm2 will be formed, thin material layer separation – at 9 J/sm2. Layers of that kind can appear in CdSb monocrystals at the energy dencity of 11 J/sm2, CdTe hasn’t this effect. Intensive dislocation movement in CdTe and PbTe monocrystals was discovered, it caused by laser radiation. Dislocations in CdTe are moving to the insertions and macro crack , in that case near the crack dislocation density is minima.

Institute of problems of materialoznavstva the name I.M. Frantsevicha NAN of of Ukraine 3, Crgiganivscogo Str, Kiev, 03680, Ukraine, e-mail:zvezda@ipms.kiev.ua

The investigations of the electronic structure in multi-wall carbon nanotubes obtained by different methods with different diameters were performed by means of the ultra-soft X-ray emission spectroscopy. It has been revealed that the narrowing of the ÑKα-spectra of nanotubes was due to decreasing the degree of the πpz-overlapping above the nanotubes surface. It has been established that the narrowing of the emission bands induced by the great number of broken bonds, which appeared after purifying from catalysts, was significantly greater than that due to decreasing nanotubes diameters. It has been found that the overlapping of the πpz-orbitals became insensitive to changes of nanotubes diameters at thickness exceeded 70 nm.

Hydrogen Segregation’s Influence on Amplitude Dependent Internal Friction in Ta-H System

Kherson State University 40 Let Oktyabrya, 27, Kherson, 73000

The amplitude dependent internal friction in solid solutions of hydrogen in tantalum in a range of concentration 0÷5,5 at. % Í is investigated. It is found out the complex dependence of internal friction from the hydrogen contents in a range of relative deformation amplitudes 10-5 to 10-4. Four components of the internal friction are selected. Two of them, the amplitude - independent background and the microplastic asymptote do not depend on concentration of hydrogen. Two other components are changed in opposite directions, with the growth of the hydrogen contents and forming the complex amplitude dependence of the whole system. Possible mechanisms of concentration dependent components of internal friction are offered on the basis of viscous braking dislocation by hydrogen atmosphere and dislocation latching by grains of hydride phase.

We have developed a number of nanolayered structures from amorphous chalcogenide materials, which consists of stacks 1-10 nm thick sub-layers (Se, Te, AsSe, SeTe, As2S3, SiOx, Sb, Bi) with alternating compositions, deposited by cyclic vacuum thermal evaporation on special glass, sapphire, silicon substrata. Efficient interdiffusion and composition or phase change in an acceptable time domains can be stimulated in these structures by laser irradiation, ion beams, current pulses, while the initial structures are stable at normal environment conditions. The main result of these stimulated solid state processes is the well localized change of optical and electrical parameters (transmittance, refractive index, conductivity, permittivity) which in turn can be used for optical recording, surface pattern formation, memory devices.
Key words: nanostructures, multilayers, interdiffusion, optical characteristics.
